Our Story

Founding and Growth

Founded on April 1, 2000, by seasoned building contractor Wimpie Erasmus, Wilmar Bouhandel began as a modest operation driven by a strong commitment to providing high-quality building materials, hardware, and paint to local contractors. Wimpie started this journey from a small home-based setup, but thanks to his dedication to quality, timely delivery, and affordability, Wilmar Bouhandel quickly grew, establishing a new and permanent location at 76 Hoofweg, Wellington.

In 2005, Fanus Mostert joined the company, bringing with him a wealth of experience from his career as a Commercial Banker. His passion for growth, customer relationships, and exceptional service aligned perfectly with Wilmar Bouhandel’s values. Fanus assumed ownership in 2019, just before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. While these times brought unforeseen challenges, we persevered through faith, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to our customers, coming out stronger and more dedicated than ever to serving our community.
